Water Catchment Cisterns:

A Water Catchment Cistern only makes sense in today's water challenged society. As an Architectural Designer, and LEED AP in Atlanta Georgia I find it important to encourage clients to pursue design strategies that will maximize Environmental Conservation and Bio-Preservation.

Water Catchment, and Grey Water Systems can be challenging to implement with Local City/State Municipal Water Use Guidelines & Codes. Atlanta has struggled in recent years with allowing Grey Water Systems. I attended a "GREEN Plumbers" Water Efficient Technology Seminar and Coursework in mid 2008, only to learn that Atlanta was behind the national Water Conservation curve. Austin, leads the country with some innovative strategies to maximize the efficiency of their local Water Resources.

Some issues that limit Water Reuse are Local Codes of course. Additional Isses may be a need for redundancy in Piping, which translates to increased construction costs. Other issues may be lack of product knowledge by the local builder/architect/contractor.

Water is the Key to life, and will be considered a Golden Resource in the very near future. I design with WaterCatchment Cisterns, Photovoltaic Panels, and Solar Passive Design Techniques that Maximizes the Efficiency of the Natural Resources Used, in order that LESS can be used overall. Smart Healthy Holistic Sustainable Design is no accident. I applaud this WebSite, and I will pass this link along.
